Clarence Casperson Hagen

March 18, 1919 ~ August 4, 2014

The family of Clarence Hagen sadly announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather at the age of 95 years.

Clarence passed away peacefully on August 4, 2014 at Swan Valley Lodge surrounded by his family and the wonderful staff at the lodge.

Clarence was born in Saskatoon, SK to George and Katie Hagen on March 18, 1919. Shortly after he was born they moved to Elmworth, AB to homestead. He was raised in Elmworth, attended school and worked on a trapline with his father to provide for the family.

He enlisted in the army to serve in World War II and served as a stretcher-bearer/medic. After the war he homesteaded in Gordondale, where he met the love of his life, Orah Harris.

They were married in Dawson Creek, BC in 1947 and farmed in Gordondale for over 30 years. They were a driving force in their community, always willing to help family and neighbours. Clarence and Orah were instrumental in building the church and the hall and were always very active in organizing events.

Upon retiring to Creston, they fully embraced church and community life, making friends that lasted a lifetime.

Clarence was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Orah.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son Lawrence (Karen); daughter Ruth (Brian) Brewster; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gwen Brown officiating. Interment followed the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erickson, BC.
