July 30, 1939 - December 5, 2021
In loving memory ~
Charles "Ed" Edwin McNiven passed away on December 5, 2021, at Creston, BC at the age of 82 years.
Ed was born on July 30, 1939, in Vulcan, AB to parents Mary and Charles McNiven. He moved from Alberta to Creston in 1960 (after his parents relocated here), always keeping in close contact with many family members in Alberta. Here he worked in construction and moving houses and other buildings with his father Charlie. In 1966, Ed married Joyce Hollihan and together they owned and operated the Wynndel store in the late 60's and early 70's. Following this, he worked as a salesclerk at the co-op and then in the produce department at The Super Value grocery store. Ed also delivered mail for Canada Post to the Kootenay Lake areas as well as worked as a care aide for Home Support. In his retirement he enjoyed helping with the Erickson History group, seeing his granddaughters grow up, having coffee everyday with the fellas, and was able to visit his family in Alberta more often.
Ed was predeceased by his father Charles McNiven, mother Mary McNiven, sister Elizabeth Brownell and brother-in-law Gerald Brownell.
Ed will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Wendy (Evan), granddaughters Brynn and Siobhan, sister Jennie Lee Evelyn (Doug) Anderson, aunt Jesse McNiven, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at a later date at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, BC.
