Charles (Charley) Lloyd Yeo, passed away suddenly at his Creston residence on December 21, 2014 at the age of 71 years.

Charley was born to Mae and Lorne Yeo on February 27, 1943 at O’Leary, PEI and graduated from Alberton Regional High School in PEI. He was with the Royal Canadian Navy for 7 years and attended 4 years of training at the Technical College in Esquimalt, BC. Following his navy career, he studied at BCIT and satisfactorily completed his exams in the trade of millwright. Charley completed a 4 year apprenticeship in the millwright trade, receiving his Journeyman Certificate and was employed in Williams Lake, Prince Rupert, Vernon and Surrey before moving to Creston in the 1970’s. He was first employed with Crestbrook Sawmill and then with the Columbia Brewery until his retirement at the age of 55 years.

He was affiliated with the Royal Canadian Legion and also volunteered with the cadets. Charley was actively involved in Municipal Affairs, serving on the Advisory Board of Directors for Area B in the Creston Valley. In the past, he was an avid hockey fan and in 1995 he received a plaque for “most dedicated fan”. In addition, he took great interest in other sports, especially football and curling. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading, watching sports on TV, camping and the outdoors.

He was predeceased by his parents Mae and Lorne. Charley will be dearly missed by his wife Sylvia; sister Lillian (Cliburne) Locke; brother James (La Verne) Yeo and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his grand-nephews Luke, Charley, and Colin Doiron; also father-in-law Kenneth Leard; sister-in-law Anna (Tyndall) Semple; brother-in-law Earl Leard; step-children Sharon (Derrick) Cameron and Stephen (Kelly) Horne; four step-grandchildren Andrew and Ryan Cameron and Robbie and Alex Horne.

Cremation has taken place and a family gathering to be held at a later date.
