September 28, 1936 - July 23, 2021
Carole Annette Petersen (nee Street) passed away on July 23, 2021, in Creston, BC at the age of 84 years.
Carole was born on September 28, 1936. in Canora, SK to parents Donald & Eva Street. Carole lived in Invermay, SK until she was 14 years old, when her family moved to Creston in 1952 and she began grade 10 at PCSS. During her high school years, Carole worked part-time at the Tivoli Theatre, it was during this time that she caught the eye of her husband Vernon.
When Carole was 18, she married Vernon Petersen and they were married for 66 happy years. Early in her married life she had three children, Trevor, Kirk, and Cheryl, who all live in Creston. In 1967, when the children were older and attending grade school, Carole began her professional career as a part-time secretary at a local real estate office.
She took a typing class and would bring her portable typewriter out to the hay field, where Vern was working, so that she could practice when she wasn't needed for driving the tractor. Shortly thereafter, she obtained a full-time position at the Town of Creston, where she progressed to the position of Deputy Clerk Treasurer.
Carole was highly respected at the Town of Creston office and to this day many of the people that she worked with still state that she was the glue that held it all together. When Carole retired from the Town, her retirement party was a true testament to how much she was appreciated and cared for by the Town of Creston employees.
Carole enjoyed curling, golf, line dancing, knitting, socializing and life in general. She tended a large garden every year along with Vern and the shelves were always full of canning. It was a rare occasion to have bought bread or goodies in the house as she was a wonderful baker and well known for her pie making. Once retired, Carole enjoyed many winters in Yuma with her husband and the Creston snowbirds' gang, along with many other trips with their wonderful friends.
Carole absolutely adored and cherished all of her nine grandchildren and her 12 great grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and wife. Carole was everyone's biggest cheerleader and fan. She was always kind, helpful, and fair, and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
