March 12, 1933 - October 18, 2022
In loving memory ~
Berwyn Joseph Pisony passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer, on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the age of 89 years in Creston, British Columbia. Everyone knows that Berwyn put up a good fight against cancer.
Berwyn's passing marks the end of an incredible chapter in our lives. Born March 12, 1933, Berwyn was raised on the ranch lands of Southern Alberta. Berwyn attended college in Olds, Alberta where he studied agriculture, livestock, and crop production.
In 1958, he married Rose Linderman, and started a family just outside of Lundbreck. Berwyn and Rose, along with their five children, worked hard to establish the stunning BR7 ranch. A ranch that was once featured in The Western Producer and can still be found in a few books today. Berwyn and Rose were together for 46 years, before Rose's passing in 2004.
Remarrying in 2006, Berwyn and his second wife Rhonda, bought a beautiful retirement home in Creston, British Columbia. Berwyn was no less quiet in his retirement. He kept active looking after their many animals, large gardens, and spending time with the local Lions Club. Berwyn was an essential part of canvassing for the heart and stroke foundation and was recognized for his community service and dedication. Throughout their 18 years together, Berwyn and Rhonda loved traveling the world, especially to places with warm sandy beaches and blue waters. Berwyn is predeceased by his first wife, Rose Pisony and his parents, Alois Pisony and Antoinette 'Toni' Pisony (nee Bort).
Berwyn is survived by his wife, Rhonda Pisony of Creston, brother Melvin Pisony of Battleford, SK, and his children: Georgina Jasman of Lundbreck, Roger and Cathy Pisony of Lundbreck, Brad Pisony of Lundbreck, Murray and Patti Pisony of Texas, and Charity and Richard Hewitt of Cowley, and stepchildren Cody Brown, and Kara (Terrance) Brown. His grandchildren; Candice Jasman, Sadee (Ebrahim) Pisony, Amanda (Tom) Cole, Jessianna (Mikey) Pisony-Koci, Carline Pisony (Will), Rio Pisony (Ryan), Reed Pisony (Derek), Lyle (Rylee), Dustin (Kelsey) Hewitt, Emery, and Noah and great-grandchildren; Michelle, Courtney, Ardryn, Mira Rose, Merrit, Wacey Jane, Wylie, Piper.
He leaves a beautiful legacy to his whole family. Berwyn loved a good conversation, whether it was at the Ford Dealership over coffee or at home with friends over a good glass of wine. Berwyn loved his boat rides and those who spent time on his boat know he named it his "bikini boat."
His love for the Lord was easy to see both through his words and actions. Berwyn was Baptized with his church family making it a very special moment in his life. He cherished his time with his family and was blessed to have so many people in his life to call his friends.
Berwyn's final gift is that he worked with the Conservancy of Canada and a large amount of his land came under conservation easement to ensure the land remains in its natural state, to ensure the land is preserved for future generations. Berwyn was quoted saying "You never get used to the wind, but you sure remember the beautiful days."
Berwyn's words and selfless actions will be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved him.
