Barry Merkl of Creston British Columbia beloved husband to Dawn, passed away at the Creston Valley Hospital on Monday, January 20th, 2020 at the age of 61. Barry was born on May 28th, 1958 in Calgary, Alberta to Joseph and Margaret Merkl. In July of 1969 his parent's decided to move to the family farm in Brooks, Alberta. Barry finished his schooling and graduated from high school. He had been working for the Agricultural of Alberta as a grounds employee when an apprenticeship came up for a heavy duty mechanic, he applied and to his surprise he got the position. He took is studies in Calgary, Alberta and graduated in March 1987 with his Red Seal and his Provincial Apprentice Certificates. Barry stayed at this position for over 20 years till the Government decide to restructure. Barry worked at a few other jobs Magnum Inspection Ltd., the oil rigs, and the City of Brooks as shop manager and heavy duty mechanic. After becoming restless and deciding to try a new adventure in his life he decided to moved to Creston, British Columbia. Barry did a few different jobs but finally found his home at Creston Truck/ Kooteany Peterbilt. Barry met the love of his life Dawn on August 13th, 2008 they had their first date and they never were apart after that. They were married on October 12th,2019. Barry was extremely talented at so many different things. He always loved to work on different jobs and figure out how it worked or how he could make it work better. Barry's greatest love was his time with family,our fur babies and friends. Over the past 18 months he spent every second he could with Graham or as he called him Papa's lil man. Barry alway gave everyone a bit of his heart wherever he went. He will be truly missed by so very many. Barry was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Margaret Merkl and Younger Brother Alan Merkl. Barry is survived by his loving wife Dawn; children Brandon (Kristin) of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Daykota (Leigh) of Creston, British Columbia, Josh of Creston, British Columbia, Shane of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Darianne of Creston, British Columbia, Shala of Wetaskiwin, Alberta; Mother in law Joanne Ludwar of Creston, British Columbia, Siblings Dale Merkl of Arcola, Saskatchewan, Cameron of Brooks, Alberta, Corey (Mike) Meyer of Chestermere, Alberta, Kelly (Amanda) Anderson Calgary, Alberta, Stacey ( Lousia) Anderson of Airdrie, Alberta; Grandchildren Dillon Merkl of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Graham McNamar Of Creston, British Columbia; Nephews Kristopher Meyer of Calgary, Alberta, Evan Meyer of Chestermere, Alberta, Royce Red Star of Calgary, Alberta; Niece London Anderson of Calgary, Alberta
