Arnold Petrich


February 2, 1922 ~ December 2, 2011


On December 2, 2011 Arnold Petrich of Creston, BC, passed away peacefully at the age of 89.

Arnold was born February 2, 1922 in Ohseln, Latvia, to parents Karl and Christine Petrich. He was eldest of four children; brother to Wally, Alfred and Adolf.

Arnold was educated in Latvia and Germany, and was later stationed in Norway during the war. He later rejoined his family in Germany and worked there for a time.

On March 15, 1949 his family moved to Canada, arriving in Lister.

Arnold worked as a carpenter in Creston, helping to build Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Parish House. He helped do most of the finishing work to both. He also worked on several schools in the Valley, the Endicott Center and numerous homes and businesses in the Creston area.

Arnold was a member of the Heide Club and enjoyed their many activities. He had various interests including gardening, music, furniture building, fruit growing, and sports. He was an avid fisherman in all seasons.

Arnold was predeceased by his brother, his son, his parents and his sister.

He is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 50 years, Rita; daughters Brita, Krista, and Astrid; brother Alfred; and grandchildren Jack, Amy and Lorita.

Arnold will be remembered for his devotion to and love of his family, enjoyment of playing cards with friends, his laugh and his love of chocolate...


A private Family Celebration of Life to take place in the springtime.
