January 8, 1924 - April 9, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anna De Giusti on April 9, 2023, (Easter Sunday), in Creston, B.C., at the age of 99 years. She can now be reunited with her husband, Nello, and daughter, Rita.
Mom was born in San Giovanni Di Casarsa, Italy, on January 8, 1924. When Anna was 18 years old, she lost her mother to Rheumatic fever. Being the youngest in the family, she was raised by her siblings.
Anna was an incredible seamstress and could complete a man's three-piece suit in no time. She also made shoes to match the suit. She continued her sewing skills until she could no longer do so. In 1946, she married Nello De Giusti and began life in Milano, Italy. Five years later their daughter Rosanna was born. In 1953, Nello travelled to Canada along with Fiorello Castellarin and nine months later, Anna, Rosanna, Evelina Castellarin, and her daughter joined them. So began their lives in Canada.
Anna was employed with Creston Packers and worked there for many years. She made many friends and every Wednesday it was her time for BINGO at the Legion Hall. Mom had an incredible sense of humour and was never afraid to stop and talk to strangers. She would always go up to one and ask, "Do I know you?" Anna also had a great fondness for her step-grandson Greg, who resides in Nova Scotia. He travelled to Creston just to meet her. He always called on special occasions and she was so happy to hear from him.
Due to many falls in her home, Anna moved to the CrestView Residential Care Facility. She enjoyed her time playing BINGO there as well. The care that she received while living there was unconditional.
Anna was predeceased by her husband Nello, daughter Rita, parents Maria and Luigi Morello, brothers Angelo, Massimino, and Santo, sisters Amelia, Angela, Maria, and Lolanda, all of which resided in Italy as well as a nephew Robert Morello of Medicine Hat, AB.
Anna is survived by her daughter Rosanna (Les) MacDougall, nieces Mary (Blaine) Harder of Calgary, AB, Anna Maria Graziolli of Milano, Italy, and Anita De Giusti of Italy, nephew Walter (Sylvia) Morello of Vancouver, B.C., grandson Greg MacDougall of Nova Scotia, cousin Diana Fabris of Toronto, ON, as well as nieces and nephews in Italy. Never to forget her long-time friend Evelina Castellarin, they were like sisters.
Anna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
We will all miss you forever!
The family would like to thank Dr. Griffioen for the many years of being Anna's family physician, Dr. Chang for the wonderful care during her stay at CrestView, and the care workers and staff at CrestView. Thank you so much, we could not have done it without you.
To Jason and the staff at Creston Valley Funeral Services, you have been amazing and a great support during this emotional time.
