Ameny Alexandra "Ann" Schell

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ann Schell at Swan Valley Lodge in Creston. Ann was born in Dilke Saskatchewan, daughter of Alex and Latifa Side. She grew up helping raise younger siblings and working in the family stores and restaurants in Dilke and later in Edmonton. She worked for the Alberta and federal governments in Edmonton and Fort Nelson BC, where she met and married Sandford Schell. Ann and Sandy, along with their growing family lived in many parts of Canada and in Germany during Sandy's military career, eventually retiring to Creston where they lived in quiet retirement for almost 40 years. Sandy and Ann were married for 58 years until his passing in 2017.
In recent years Ann has been supported by good friends from her Birch Street neighbourhood, especially friend Rhonda Kirby who has been a regular visitor following her recent move to Swan Valley Lodge.
Ann is survived by siblings Tina Reimer (Edmonton), Al Side (Grande Prairie), Dan Side (South Africa) and Jim Side (Australia). She is predeceased by sisters Nettie Gouchee, Nedima Ellis, Mickey Hiscock and brothers Sam and Butch.
Ann is survived by sons Charles Schell of Parker Island, BC, Donald Schell of Qualicum Beach, BC and Robert Schell of Chilliwack, BC; grandson Alexander Schell of Victoria, BC.
