Alice Fern Johnson (nee Healey)

Alice Fern Johnson (nee Healey) passed away peacefully on March 3, 2010
in Swan Valley Lodge at the age of 85 years.
Alice was born on August 28, 1924 in Hazelton, Iowa to Rosa Marion and Rev. James Edward Healey, as their sixth daughter. The family immigrated to Canada when Alice was three years old and settled in Erickson, BC. She attended Erickson Elementary and Creston High School. As a teen she worked for Sunkee Farms and was also a nurses' aid at the Nelson Hospital.
Alice Fern Healey married Walter Johnson on April 2, 1943 at Erickson Mission Covenant Church when Walter was on leave from the Canadian Army during WWII. Both Alice and Walter were founding members of the Erickson Covenant Church. After the war, they settled on the Johnson family farm in Canyon. Alice helped run the tree fruit and dairy farm, drove the milk route and raised five children. She delivered dry cleaning for the Creston Cleaners in the late 60's. Alice enjoyed gardening, crocheting, crafts and was a nature lover. She was hard working and always had many projects on the go.
Alice was predeceased by her husband Walter on December 14, 2006, her parents, sisters Dora Wilson, Iona Subject, Carol Kerley, and Rosane Healey, sister-in-laws Helen Leadbetter and Agnes Jenstad, and grandchildren Liana and Johnathan Johnson.
She will be forever remembered by her children Darlene (Dan) Komar of Wynndel, Evelyn (Dave) Anderson of Meadow Lake, SK, Ed (Wilma) Johnson of Blumenort, MB, Mark (Iva) Johnson of Canyon, and Lois (Allan) Andrews of Kamloops, sister Marion Scanland of Cranbrook, grandchildren Jason, Daniel, and James Komar, Cindy Perry, Jay Anderson, Linnaea Nielson and Jared Anderson, Rachel Janttzi, Joel and Josiah Johnson, Karla, John and Darryl Johnson, Paul, Walter, Nancy, Joshua, Hannah, Jonathan, Sarah, Samuel, Jeremiah, Bethany, Ruth-Anne and Destiny Andrews, great-grandchildren Kieran, Kartarina, Karyssa, Kianna, and Keilan Komar, Amy and Broc Pohl, Alysha, Jesse and Nate Perry, Breaelle and Dahlia Anderson and Kylara Andrews.
A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday March 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Erickson Evangelical Covenant Church with Pastor Doug Stapleton officiating.
Interment followed at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, BC.
