Alcide (Al) Lemaire

April 18, 1952 ~ July 1, 2014

Alcide (Al) Lemaire passed away after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the age of 62 years.

Al was born to parents Maria and Alcide Lemaire on April 18, 1952 in Arleux, France. Al had numerous jobs in numerous cities over the years. When he first immigrated from France, in 1973, he worked as a mechanic for a bus company, then he worked for the mine company Asbestos Hill in Northern Quebec, for BC Hydro in Surrey and throughout Vancouver Island and for Amax in Kitsault (which is now a ghost town). In 1983, Alcide married the love of his life, Corrine Nicolle, in France. They lived in Kitsault and Terrace until their first child, Louis, was born. In 1986, they moved to Ontario where Al worked as a heavy duty mechanic for a trucking company, a logging company and a farming equipment dealership. While in Ontario, they had two more children, Nicolas and Maria. In 1991, they returned to BC and Al worked for Byron Creek mine in Sparwood. They then settled in Creston, BC where Al ran his own business – windshield repair and replacement, for ten years. In 1997, they had their fourth child, Claire.

Al volunteered his time as a dedicated cadet parent. When he semi-retired in 2004, he spent his days renovating his house, gardening, pruning fruit trees and driving Claire to school. He also really enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, fixing engines and machinery, raising rabbits, cooking and telling stories about his youth on the farm and his travels.

Al was predeceased by his parents Maria Schaskaja and Alcide Lemaire and his stepbrother Pierre Lemaire.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Corrine; children Louis (Kim), Nicolas (Alicia), Maria (Chris) and Claire; grandchild Mathieu; brother John; sisters Marie-Claire and Chantal along with their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.
