Albert John Waldner

March 5, 1943 ~ October 26, 2016


Albert was born in Melfort Hospital in 1943 to parents Mary and Paul Waldner of Gronlid, Saskatchewan. He received his education in Athol School and Melfort Composite Collegiate Institute in Saskatchewan.

Albert met his wife Sharon and they married on August 6, 1966 in Ridgedale. Sharon was the daughter of Margaret and Alex McConaghie of Ridgedale. They had two sons, Derek and Jeffrey Waldner, both of Calgary. Family resides in Ridgedale, Gronlid, and Melfort.

Albert worked on road construction for ten years in Saskatchewan for Healey Contruction. He moved with his family to Elkford, BC in 1972 where they spent the next 30 years. Albert started as an operator and then became the Foreman of Eagle Mountain. He held this job for many years until retirement in 2002. After retirement Albert and Sharon moved to Creston, BC.

Albert loved fishing and hunting, but gave it up for his garden and yard. He also loved growing his roses. He travelled with his wife in their motorhome, liked reading, gambling, and talking to family and friends.


Albert is predeceased by his parents Mary and Paul Waldner.

He is survived by his loving wife Sharon who he married in 1966; two sons: Derek (Heather) and Jeffrey (Neidy) of Calgary AB; four grandchildren; three sisters: Annette Kopach, Doreen Dorward and Rose Svare; and nieces and nephews.
