Adrian A. Lankhaar

Adrian A. Lankhaar of Creston passed away April 6, 2016 at the Cranbrook hospital at the age of 75 years after suffering a heart attack.

Adrian was born in Valkenswaard, Holland May 1, 1940. He immigrated with his family to the Creston Valley in 1951 and was educated here.

He was employed for many years in the trucking and construction industries.

He married Helen Awmack on September 18, 1976 in Victoria, BC.

He was a member of Shriners, Masonic Lodge, Lions Club, and the Creston Fire Department. Adrian loved spending time on Kootenay Lake waterskiing, boating and sightseeing. He also enjoyed driving and often took daytrips throughout the Kootenays. He was happiest at home whether tending to the property with his tractors, woodworking or hosting friends and family from near and far.


He was predeceased by his father Wouter Lankhaar in 1966, his mother Dientje Lankhaar in 1986 and his brother John Lankhaar in 2015.

He is survived by his wife Helen, of Creston BC.; daughter Deanna Lankhaar of Calgary, Alberta; and sons Grant of Calgary Alberta, and Vance of Sunnyvale, CA. He is also survived by his brother Bill (Maxine) of Creston BC. and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held at G.F. Oliver Funeral Chapel on April 11, 2016 at 10:30 am with Pastor Harry Haberstock officiating.
