Ada Mary Smith

September 17, 1929 ~ July 17, 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of Ada Mary Smith announces her passing away on July 17, 2013 at the age of 83 years old.

Ada was born to Hugh and Mary Smith on September 17, 1929 in Bellevue, Alberta. She grew up in a loving household with her older sister Ellen, her younger sister Anne and her two older brothers Edward and Joe.

Ada moved to Creston with her family in 1946 when she was 16. She loved living on the 'Farm' in Erickson and spent many happy years in her simple yet satisfying routine. She was always with family including many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Ada loved children and never said "no" to reading a story or playing a game. She was devoted in her daily task of walking to the mail box and delivering mail. She also helped on the farm with picking up prunings, moving irrigation pipes and selling fruit. Ada enjoyed being around people and loved when visitors came to the farm. Ada was known, especially at family dinners, for her creamy rice pudding, her tapioca pudding and her fluffy angel food cake.

Ada also appreciated spiritual things and had faith in the Bible's promise of a peaceful paradise on earth and of the resurrection when loved ones will reunite. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on April 20, 1957 and enjoyed being with her spiritual family at the Kingdom Hall every week.

Ada was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Hugh Smith, her brothers Edward and Joseph and her two sisters Ellen and Anne.

She will be missed by her brother-in-law John, sister-in-law Pat and nieces and nephews: George, David, Robert, Judy, Roger, Kathy, Doug, Joanne, Larry, Michael, Ted, Peggy and Pixie and their families.

Anyone who knew Ada has known a very special person.
