A 22-year-old female is recovering from injuries sustained when she was driven over by a pick-up truck in her yard in Wynndel on July 9.

Staff Sgt. Bob Gollan said today that the woman suffered a broken hip, and collarbone and back injuries. She was flown to Cranbrook for treatment by helicopter ambulance.

“This was a completely freak accident and no charges will be laid,” Gollan said.

The driver, a construction contractor working at the residence, was leaving the yard when his vehicle went over the woman, who was sunbathing at the time.

“Our members recreated the circumstances of the incident and determined there was no way the driver could have seen the woman, given the terrain and vegetation,” Gollan said. “As you can imagine, the driver is extremely distraught.”
