High demand has led to watering restrictions for Erickson and Creston.

Due to extremely hot weather and lack of rainfall, the Arrow Creek water system is currently experiencing record high levels of demand, so all Creston and Erickson users are being asked to conserve water.

Stage 2 water conservation measures are now in place for Creston and Erickson, which means:

•watering of lawns is permitted only from 6-10 a.m.;

•watering of gardens, trees and shrubs is permitted only from 7 p.m.-10 a.m.; and

•watering of gardens, trees and shrubs by watering can or hand-held hose is still permitted anytime.

“Stage 2 water conservation measures will remain in effect until further notice and stricter water conservation measures will be implemented if demand does not decline,” said a press release from the Regional District of Central Kootenay.

Erickson water conservation measures are available at www.rdck.ca, and Town of Creston water conservation measures are available at www.creston.ca.
