From Aug. 8:

Fortis BC customers in the Creston Valley have been without power today, but power is expected to be restored between 7 and 9:30 this evening.

North of Creston, power has been out intermittently along Highway 3A, in Wynndel, Kuskanook, Destiny Bay, Sanca, Twin Bays and Lockhart, since a windstorm around 11 p.m. last night, which resulted in broken poles and downed power lines.

The outage affects about 520 customers, and crews are on the scene.

“Their priority is to ensure the public’s safety and also restore power as soon possible,” said Fortis spokesperson Michael Allison.

The crews working north of Creston have been joined by crews working on a West Creston power outage that occurred midmorning, aaffecting 220 homes on West Creston, Cedar Hill, Reclamation, Corn Creek, Smith, Simmons and Balsam roads.

“We’re able to now put the rest of that crew onto north Creston,” said Allison.
