Saturday's elections in the Creston Valley saw most incumbents returned to their seats.

With 1,002 votes, Creston Mayor Ron Toyota was returned for a second term, well ahead of former mayor Joe Snopek (676).

One new face will be seen at the council table, with Scott Veitch (814) replacing retiring longtime councillor Len Folkman. Five incumbents will be back: Judy Gadicke (1,056), Tanya Ducharme (996), Jerry Schmalz (851), Wesly Graham (804) and Joanna Wilson (782). Not making the cut were Ed Vondracek (630), Rhonda Barter (514), Malcolm Ferguson (407), Renee Kyle (401), Ingrid Voigt (328), Justin Lysohirka (265) and Louis Mihaly (107).

Mel Joy (639) remains the Town of Creston's  trustee for School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake), with Heather Suttie (589) and Paullette Francoeur (328) coming in behind.

In the South Rural race for the SD8 board of education, Verna Mayers-McKenzie (331) was edged out by Annette Hambler-Pruden (338), who finished well behind newcomer Rebecca Huscroft (755). Bob Gollan (277) and Vladimir Certik (203) brought up the rear.

In the Creston Valley's Regional District of Central Kootenay Areas, Garry Jackman (Area A) and Larry Binks (Area C) were returned by acclamation, while incumbent Area B director John Kettle (709) beat challenger Ed McNiven (156).
