UPDATE

Hwy 3 is reduced to single lane alternating traffic 20 km west of Creston due to wildfire suppression.

Possible delay of up to 20 minutes dependent on weather and fire behavior. Travellers should be prepared for unscheduled delays/closures. Alternate route available via Hwy 6 and 3A to the Kootenay Lake Ferry. Estimated travel time 2.5 hours. High traffic volumes possible at Kootenay Lake Ferry throughout the day.

Hwy 3 is closed in both directions 20 km west of Creston due to debris and heavy smoke because of forest fire activity.

An assessment is ongoing in conjunction with BC wildfire service. There is a possibility of single-lane alternating traffic between 10:30 am and 12:00 pm. This is dependent on weather and fire behavior.

An alternate route is available via Hwy 6 and 3A to the Kootenay Lake Ferry. Estimated travel times are 2.5 hours. High traffic volumes are possible at Kootenay Lake Ferry Terminals throughout the day. Check DriveBC for updates.
