Creston Town Council has announced its participation in the Canada 150 Community Leaders Network.

Representing Creston as liaison with the Government of Canada is Coun. Joanna Wilson, who will serve as the local voice for Creston in Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation activities.

The network will be comprised of community leaders from thousands of municipalities across Canada, ensuring the municipal voice is front and centre during the year-long celebrations, Wilson said on Tuesday.

Recognizing that community building is nation building, this unique national network of Community Leaders will ensure that municipalities are showcased as part of the Canada 150 celebrations and beyond.

“I am pleased to represent Creston as Canada 150 representative, and to gather and share information throughout 2017,” Wilson said.”  Watch for more updates as we announce local and national events and initiatives.”

“As our Community Leader, Councillor Wilson will act as the official voice of our community for Canada 150 celebrations and events that may take place in the Town of Creston over the upcoming year,” said Mayor Ron Toyota. “As our Community Leader, Coun. Wilson would be pleased to meet with organizers of events that are being planned to celebrate the anniversary, and she will work with you to help promote those celebrations. You are invited to follow our Community Leader on the Town of Creston web site at www.creston.ca.”
