The World Harmony Run, which passed through Creston in 2008, is returning in May, and the Town of Creston will be asking the Regional District of Central Kootenay to work together to host a welcoming reception.
“I would like to see that happen again here,” said Coun. Joanna Wilson at Tuesday’s regular meeting. “It was very good in 2008.”
She offered to help organize the event. The difference this year is that the Lower Kootenay Band dancers and the Creston Community Band will not be available this time around.
“The principal of ARES (Adam Robertson Elementary School) has contacted us saying they would like students to participate,” said town executive assistant Bev Caldwell.
Council voted in favour of working with the RDCK and having the reception at the Creston and District Community Complex after the suggestion of Creston Valley Chamber of Commerce executive director Jim Jacobsen.
“The directors have been quite vocal that it’s a community hub,” he said.
