“Suspicious” activities keep police busy

Creston RCMP responded to 48 calls for assistance from March 5-11, Staff Sgt. Ryan Currie said on Tuesday.

March 5

• A male complained about being harassed after a person driving a truck whistled at him.

• A person reported to be an assault victim refused to cooperate with police.

• Police found a person reported to be acting suspiciously at a business to be eating cookies and waiting for a friend.

March 6

• Alcohol was a deterrent in letting police determine who started a fight when they investigated an assault complaint.

•The subject of a complaint about a disturbance and threats at a business left without further incident.

•Police attended to a dispute between a landlord and tenant.

• A report of harassing communications between ex-partners was received.

•Acting in a suspiciously has cost a man his freedom—if only temporarily. When police responded to a complaint they determined the suspect had an outstanding arrest warrant and was also breaching probation conditions. He was arrested and held in cells pending a hearing.

March 7

• Police attended to keep the peace while an ex-partner removed property.

• Mischief to mailboxes was reported.

• When police responded to a report about a suspicious person with an axe in Erickson they found a group of boys on a campout.

March 8

• A Creston business reported a shoplifting.

• A pedestrian threatened a homeowner over barking dogs.

• A delivery driver was threatened after he went to the wrong address.

March 9

• Police investigated a report of an assault at a protest and determined that none had taken place.

March 10

• Police responded to a family disturbance in order to keep the peace.

• An investigation is underway after a cat was killed by an unknown person.

• A male was arrested after his parole was revoked.

• Police arrested a person when a curfew check revealed a breach of conditions.

March 11

• An ex-partner reported being harassed and slandered on social media.

• A suspicious person was reported walking on Highway 21.

• A person possibly stealing snow shovels in town was reported.
