The odd behavior of a Kootenay Bay resident led to the discovery of a marijuana grow-op and his arrest on March 29.

RCMP were called to the 600 block of Riondel Road to check on the well-bring of a 27-year-old male, due to concerns that he had been acting erratically.

“On arriving at the residence, RCMP officers were met by the male who came outside and began to remove his clothing while talking in a nonsensical manner,” said Staff Sgt. Gord Stewart. “He invited the RCMP officers into the residence, where the officers noted signs of an indoor marijuana grow.”

The man was arrested and transported to the Creston RCMP detachment, and on the way, added to his troubles by attempting to kick out a window of the police vehicle.

After a warrant was obtained, officers searched the residence and dismantled a grow-op, seizing 122 pot plants and growing equipment.

The man was released to a relative, and will appear in court to face a number of charges, including production of a controlled substance and mischief to a police vehicle.
