School superintendent announces retirement

“Due to the planned retirement of Superintendent Jeff Jones, the SD8 (Kootenay Lake) School Board is commencing an extensive search process for its next Superintendent,” he said in an email to media contacts on January 10. “The Board’s search will begin immediately.”

Jones has been in the position since August 2010. Previously he worked as director and assistant to the chief superintendent of the Calgary Board of Education. Prior to that, he spent 17 years as a teacher and school principal, also in Calgary.

“The Board of Education is pleased that Superintendent Jones will continue to work with the District over the next several months throughout the search process and a period of transition once the new Superintendent has been hired,” the message said.
