Regional District of Central Kootenay Area A director Garry Jackman has announced that his area has recommended the distribution of $31,200 in Columbia Basin Trust funding under the Community Initiatives Program.

Jackman said total requests were about five times more than Area A had available to distribute. Pending final approval by the RDCK, the following non-profit groups will receive funds:

Riondel Recreation Society, $10,000; Eastshore Alliance Supporting the Early Years (playground), $2,300; Food Roots (community garden),  $2,600; Crawford Bay Elementary Secondary School, $1,200; Boswell (fitness equipment), $1,000; Boswell (carpet bowling), $700; North Kootenay Lake Community Services Society (youth counseling), $1,300; Spay Neuter Animal Program, $900; Creston and District Historical and Museum Society, $1,100; Creston Rod and Gun Club, $800; Creston Valley Food Action Coalition (farmers’ market), $800; CVFAC (Harvest Share), $600; Creston Valley Search and Rescue: $1,000; Kuskanook Harbour Society, $6,900.

Regional District of Central Kootenay Area C director Larry Binks has announced that his area recommended the distribution of $30,000 in Columbia Basin Trust funding under the Community Initiatives Program.

Binks said total requests were more than three times what Area C had available to distribute.

Pending final approval by the RDCK, the following non-profit groups will receive funds:

Spay/Neuter Animal Program, $1,000; Creston Community Resource Society, $2,500; Creston and District Society for Community Living, $500; Creston Community 4-H Club (beef and dairy), $1,500; Creston-Kootenay Foundation, $500; Creston Pet Adoption and Welfare Society, $2,500; Creston Rod and Gun Club, $3,000; Creston Valley Blossom Festival, $2,500; Creston Valley Blossom Festival (youth group), $500; Creston Valley Figure Skating Club, $500; Creston Valley Music Teachers Association, $500; Creston Valley Search and Rescue Society, $1,000; Creston Valley Thunder Cats, $1,500; Friends of the Ingham Arts and Culture Centre, $1,000; Prince Charles Secondary School photography club, $300; West Creston Fire Protection Society, $3,800 (fire equipment), $3,800 (community equipment), $2,700 (Forestry S-100 certification); Creston Valley Fall Fair, $2,000.
