The Kimberley and Cranbrook RCMP are actively investigating following a multi-person fight that broke out at a party north of Lazy Lake on Saturday, June 28.
Lazy Lake is located just northeast of Wasa Lake, which is around 35 kilometres from Kimberley.
One male individual was injured in the event and was taken to hospital with facial and bodily injuries, but was released shortly after and one arrest was made.
Cpl. Dean Kletzel said the event was attended by between 100 to 150 people, with people attending from all over the East Kootenay as well as Alberta.
"It wasn't just a Cranbrook or just a Kimberley [event]," Kletzel said. "It was a multi-town destination, I guess."
The RCMP are asking the public for their help as they are hoping to attain video from the event.
They have not received any video yet, but they have been conducting interviews with people who were out there and the investigation is ongoing.
Some residents commented on social media saying they heard booming sounds that did not sound like fireworks, but Kletzel said at this time there is nothing indicating there was any gunfire.
"Everything that we've gathered so far, we have not received any evidence to say that it would be gunshots, but rather fireworks and bear bangers," Kletzel said.
