Creston RCMP responded to 59 calls for assistance from January 15-22, Staff Sgt. Ryan Currie said on Tuesday.
January 15
• When police followed up on a report of a suspicious vehicle in Creston they found the driver to be prohibited from driving. He was also in possession of illegal narcotics and well as suspected stolen property. He was held in police cells and charged.
• A vehicle reported stolen from Creston was located just outside of town. The thief’s efforts were made easier when the keys were left in the vehicle.
• Police were called to a local business, where a disturbance broke out over a child custody disagreement.
• An injured deer report was referred to BC Conservation Officers.
• When police investigated a report of a stolen vehicle it was determined that the case was a civil dispute between a separated couple.
January 16
• It has not been determined if any property was stolen during a break and enter to a Creston residence.
• When police arrived at a residence to assist with an out of control youth, the matter had already calmed down.
• Police received a complaint of an email fraud.
• Licence plate thefts were reported in Crawford Bay.
• A suspicious male was reported to be taking photos of residences in Kingsgate and claiming he is a bank employee.
January 17
• A complaint about criminal harassment arose from a Facebook post involving a speeding vehicle.
• Harassment and threats between youths were reported.
• A suspect has been identified after a cake was stolen from a local business. Charges are being pursued.
January 18
• The same person who allegedly stole the cake has been identified in thefts at two other local business. Charges are pending in those cases as well.
•On-going investigation continues after a report of drug activity in Creston.
January 19
• Suspicious lights were reported on a mountain near Yahk.
• Police were unable to locate young people reported to be drinking and yelling near the Community Complex.
January 20
• A driver reported to be possibly impaired or in medical dress was located and found to be sober and safe.
• An attempted break and enter to a residence in Wynndel was reported.
January 21
• Police assisted the RCMP Federal Crime Unit and Kingsgate Border Services when a driver entering Canada was found to be in possession of a large amount of controlled narcotics. The investigation continues.
• A money transfer was reported to have been illegally intercepted.
• Suspicious activity with a group involved in protests was reported and police are monitoring the situation.
