Police are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage after a fatal collision on Highway 3 south of Cranbrook on Boxing Day that killed one woman and injured three people.
The incident occurred after a southbound black Cadillac Escalade collided with a northbound red Honda CRV just after 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 26, according to BC Highway Patrol.
A 64-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Honda CRV, did not survive, while the vehicle's driver, as well as two passengers in the Escalade, were seriously hurt.
"BC Highway Patrol is asking anyone who saw the events leading up to this collision to speak with us about what happened, and we are especially interested in any dash camera video," said Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. "This was the second fatal collision in less than a week in the winter conditions near Cranbrook. Please everyone, slow down and make sure you are driving sober and without any distractions."
The cause of the collision is still under investigation and neither speed nor impairment have been ruled out, according to RCMP.
