September 26, 2017

• A vehicle on Hwy 21 failed to stop for a school bus which had its red lights flashing and stop sign extended. The driver will be issued a violation ticket for failing to stop for a school bus. Police are reminding drivers that when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop sign extended, vehicles in both directions must stop until the equipment is deactivated. Drivers who fail to do so face a $368 fine and three points.

• A pickup that was slowing down for traffic in the 1100 block of Northwest Blvd was hit from behind by a second pickup. None of the occupants were injured. Both vehicles were towed and one driver was issued a violation ticket for following too closely.

• Police were called to a disturbance at a storage site on Helen St. Two customers were arguing over personal effects held in storage. Both individuals were cooperative with police.

• A two year old girl was reported missing in Riondel after wandering away from her family. Community members immediately began searching the area and found her safe a short time later.

September 27, 2017

• Police responded to a noise complaint in the 3700 block of Hwy 3. The resident agreed to turn her music down.

• A male was arrested for failing to comply with an undertaking after he was observed in the company of a female he was not to have contact with. The male was held for court.

• A two vehicle collision occurred on Hwy 21 and Erickson Rd after the driver of a pickup failed to yield for another pickup. The drivers were not injured and there was only minimal damage to the vehicles.

• Police were called to a disturbance in the 400 block of 8th Ave S. Neither of the participants were cooperative with police.

• A purse was reported stolen from the 600 block of 11th Ave S. The owner had forgotten her purse on the hood of her vehicle and when she went to look for it 15 minutes later the purse was gone. Police searched the area but were not able to locate it.

September 28, 2017

• A van was broken into on 12th Ave S. Tools and equipment were stolen from the vehicle.

• A verbal dispute occurred on Hazel Creek Forest Service Road between a group of hunters on ATV’s and a cyclist. Police followed up with all involved. Charges were not pursued.

September 29, 2017

• Police were called for an intoxicated male on Cook St. The male was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and held in cells until sober.

• A two vehicle rear end collision occurred near the Kootenay River Bridge on Hwy 3. None of the occupants were injured. The driver who was unable to stop in time was issued a violation ticket for following too closely.

• A driver rolled his vehicle after losing control on the off ramp at Hwy 3 and Hwy 21. The driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care. The driver was not injured but his vehicle had to be towed.

September 30, 2017

• A resident on 4th Ave N reported his license plate was stolen sometime in the past three days.

October 1, 2017

• A bicycle was stolen from the 600 block of Cook St. The bicycle was a black Norco Ryde with red rims.

October 2, 2017

• Nothing of significance.
