A plea bargain on charges stemming from a home invasion last year has resulted in 36- and 39-month jail sentences for two men, RCMP Cpl. Monty Taylor said on Monday.

Brenton Chambers, 21, and Travis Hennessy, 22, pleaded guilty in Creston last week to charges of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition for the home invasion, and of break and entry and assault for the other crime.

The pair entered a Creston residence and, when the female resident locked herself in a room to call 911, shot the door lock with a pistol. They then fled. They were captured after breaking into another residence and committing an assault.

A total of 11 charges were laid after the two incidents, but the remaining charges were stayed as part of the guilty plea agreement.
