Creston police responded to 83 calls from July 18-24, Creston RCMP office manager Chris Harland said on July 25. It was another week featuring thefts from vehicles and motor accidents.

July 18

•A driver from Christina Lake was taken to hospital for treatment after going off Highway 3A at Crusher Road. Alcohol was not a factor and police suspected the driver may have fallen asleep.

•A resident in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue South chased off two youths wearing black hoodies who were attempting to enter his vehicle.

•When police responded to an alarm at a Canyon Street business they found the doors unlocked. Eventually the owner came around from the back of the building, realizing he had forgotten to lock the doors.

•An anonymous caller reported hearing shots fired in the 2000 block of Crusher Road but police were unable to locate the source of the noise.

July 19

•A female driver of an SUV was taken to Cranbrook hospital with leg injuries after she collided with a semi, which went into the ditch near Irishman Creek on Highway 3 east of Yahk.

•The owner of two horses in the 2700 block of Fourth Street found them with men’s neckties hanging around their necks.

•Tomato plants stolen from the 1100 block of Ash Street were later found in the alley behind the residence.

•Guns, a hunting bow and clothing were stolen from an Ash Street residence after thieves cut a garage door lock, then a gun safe lock.

July 20

•A 75-year-old male died when he tumbled down an embankment on Highway 3A near Akokli Creek Bridge.

•The owner of a vehicle reported to be passing on a double solid line near Yahk has been sent a warning letter.

July 21

•A resident of the 200 block of Stace Road reported that five vehicles on the property were rummaged through, netting thieves a cellphone, some coins, a wallet and other items.

•A blue 2006 Suzuki motorcycle was stolen overnight from the 1500 block of Northwest Boulevard.

•Police received a report from a motorcycle driver that he had lost control on a corner in the 11000 block of Highway 3A and landed in a ditch. The motorcycle was a write-off but the driver was not injured.

•A Crusher Road resident reported an unlocked vehicle was entered for the third time in recent weeks.

July 22

•Three youths ran off when police arrived to investigate a report of underage drinking at Centennial Park. One female left her purse behind and she appeared at the police station the following day to claim it. She received a warning about her behavior.

•Police are investigating a report of five youths in dark clothing going through cars and sheds in the 1900 block of Pine Street.

•A shed containing a lawnmower in the 1900 block of Pine Street was entered by thieves who cut the lock. Nothing was stolen.

•No theft was reported when a shed was broken into in the 400 block of Northwest Boulevard. The latch was cut so thieves could gain entry.

July 23

•A green 2002 Chevrolet Silverado went off Lower Wynndel Road and into a water-filled ditch. The uninjured driver reported he swerved to avoid an elk.

•Four semi trailers full of empty beer cans were entered while parked in the 400 block of Helen Road. No theft was reported.

•Although the paint appears to match, the neighbour of a complainant about a hit and run in the 1100 block of Murdoch Street denies involvement.

•When a patrolling officer noticed a suspicious licence plate decal, the driver of a van was pulled over. The decal was homemade and the male driver was arrested and issued a driving prohibition. The vehicle was impounded.

July 24

•Police were unable to locate an intoxicated female reported to be in Centennial Park.

•It seems that good fences don’t always make good neighbors. Police were called to a neighbors’ dispute in the 6200 block of Meadow Creek Road when one party denied another access so they could paint their fence.

•Two motorcycles were apparently cut off by vehicles entering Highway 3A near Kuskonook. One of the motorcycle drivers was knocked off his bike and suffered serious injuries.

•A resident in the 1800 block of Sinclair Road reported hearing shots fired for the third time in the past four nights.
