Creston RCMP responded to 86 calls for service from June 25-July 1, Cpl. Monte Taylor said on Tuesday. (The first part of this week's report can be found here.)

June 28

•A male was arrested in the 1400 block of Vancouver Street for assault after he injured a female. He was later released with no-contact conditions and a date to appear in court. Two days later, he was intoxicated and returned to the site to recover his dog. On July 1, he was found to be driving with a stolen licence plate. He faces charges of assault causing bodily harm, four occurrences of breaching conditions and possession of stolen property.

•Police were unable to locate a semi reported to be tailgating in the 4300 block of Highway 21.

•The theft of Husqvarna and Stihl chainsaws as reported in the 4600 block of Canyon-Lister Road.

•Police were called to a dispute between an adult female and her mother on Highway 3. The mother was attempting to take the daughter’s passport, claiming ownership because she paid for it. Police informed her that a passport belongs to the person it identifies, not to the one who paid the fee.

•A female was instructed to leave premises on Northwest Boulevard, which she continually visits in hopes of finding her lost cat.

•A male was stopped at the Kingsgate border crossing because there was an arrest warrant for him on a break and entry charge. He was arrested and later released with a court date.

June 29

•An Alberta-licensed Chrysler Intrepid was towed from a ditch in the 3200 block of Erickson Road.

•A Work Wheel tire rim was found in the bushes on Highway 3 near Kootenay Pass.

•A Toyota Rav4 collided with a deer in the 5000 block of Highway 3.

•Police are investigating an assault case in the 2100 block of Elm Street.

•A driver was in stable condition after his vehicle went out of control and rolled into a ditch on Highway 3 near Yahk. He was ejected from the vehicle and police were called to the Creston Valley Hospital when he became violent. Alcohol was involved and the case remains under investigation.

•While police were attending to the previous matter, an intoxicated male called from the phone at the police station asking to stay in cells overnight. He was not provided with accommodation.

June 30

•Police were called to a disturbance on J.R. Blackmore Road where an intoxicated male was causing problems.

•A female driver is being sought after a hit and run in the 400 block of 16th Avenue North.

•A container of chip dip was thrown through a drive-through window in the 300 block of Helen Street.

•An eight-foot by three-foot Touch of Dutch sign with a picture of a windmill was stolen from the 2900 block of Highway 3.

•An impaired male from Washington was stopped at the Kingsgate border crossing and issued a 90-day driving prohibition. His vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

•Two young females who rode an ATV on a public road in the 1400 block of First Avenue were already being dealt with by their parents when police arrived.

•No injuries resulted when an Alberta driver went off the road when his vehicle hydroplaned on Highway 3 near Topaz Creek. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.

•A mother and son shoplifting team have been banned from a Cook Street business.

•A Highway 3A resident reported that her purse was stolen in Wynndel.

•A Good Samaritan came to the rescue of three Calgary residents and a dog when their sailboat capsized in choppy waters on Kootenay Lake. They were treated for hypothermia.

July 1

•A resident in the 900 block of 32nd Avenue South complained that a neighbour’s dogs were chasing her horses.

•A raccoon was found dead in the 900 block of Hillside Street, shot with an arrow.

•A male pedestrian who was crossing Canyon Street at 12th Avenue was prevented from doing so by an oncoming male, who later told the police that he didn’t like the way the other fellow looked. He was warned about his behavior.

•A vehicle collided with a deer in the 2000 block of Lower Wynndel Road.

•A small quantity of marijuana and a bottle of vodka were seized from males by patrolling officers at 16th Avenue and Canyon Street.

•Police were called to the community complex when people sitting to watch the fireworks had their view blocked by a van.

•A female who was blocked from entering a pub on Canyon Street to assault another female was warned by police.
