The Lower Kootenay Band (LKB) is benefitting from improved access to health services since the opening of the Wilfred Jacobs Building in 2022.
The 13,365-sq.ft. facility houses LKB administration and health staff, including a full-time registered nurse on site and other visiting physicians once per month.
On May 31, community members were welcomed to an open house and barbecue to learn more about what health services are offered and meet the providers. At the event, health care workers explained their roles in an information session.
Those who attended were also invited to paint their hand prints on the hallways of the health centre to not only bring in colour, but to showcase the belonging of the building to the LKB community.
