It’s true; the white stuff is falling in Cranbrook and Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting is forecasting that it could continue into the weekend.
The highway maintenance contractor says its meteorological service predicts the weather system will move throughout the southern part of the region first, with snowfall accumulations to reach between 6-20 centimetres.

The snowfall is expected to end before saturday morning, returning to clear and cold conditions. Crews will be out applying anti-icing chemicals, winter abrasive and conducting snow removal operations.
The company encourages drivers to prepare for winter conditions, and allow for more travel time.
