Hawton, Holland on top in Creston’s by-election

Carolyn Hawton and Megan Holland are the Town of Creston’s newest Councillors, after Saturday’s by-election.

The Town of Creston held the by-election to fill the vacant Councillor positions resulting from the resignation of Councillors Jim Elford and Anthony Mondia in 2023. Five candidates threw their hats into the ring.

According to preliminary — or unofficial — results, Hawton and Holland topped the polls.

• Carolyn Hawton: 477 total votes (234 from advance voting, 13 from special voting, eight from mail ballots, and 222 from Saturday’s general voting day).

• Megan Holland: 450 total votes (202, 8, 5, 235)

• Micah Wassink: 433 total votes (192, 7, 5, 229)

• Scott Irwin: 213 total votes (47, 4, 0, 162)

• Rick Klimek: 190 total votes (55, 8, 0, 127)

These 2024 Preliminary Election Results are based on the ballot accounts prepared at each of the above mentioned voting places and are subject to determination of official election results.
