Polish up your golf clubs and swing and get ready to tee off at the Creston Valley Thunder Cats’ fourth annual charity scramble on May 5.
“Cats helping kids,” is the way tournament chair Lawrence Smeby describes the event. “In addition to assisting in funding Creston’s community-owned junior hockey team, this year we will be once again supporting Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta.
“We feel Ronald McDonald House is an excellent organization to support as many families from Creston are sent to the Calgary Children’s Hospital and stay at the House. The Thunder Cats will be donating one third of the net tournament proceeds to Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta.”
Smeby said that early sign-ups for the tournament have been strong, so golfers should register as soon as possible. The cost to register is $65 for Creston Golf Club members and $75 for non-members. Individual men or women or groups of four can enter.
“This is a terrific event,” Smeby said. “We have lots of prizes and there will be a prime rib dinner afterward. Also, many items will be offered for sale at an auction, with all the funds going to the hockey team and Ronald McDonald House.”
Enter through the Creston Golf Club (250-428-5515 or 1-888-928-2582) or by email to proshop@crestongolfclub.com. Entry deadline is May 5.
