Creston RCMP responded to 56 calls for service from June 16-22, Staff Sgt. Bob Gollan said on Monday.

June 16

•Sitting parked in an alley late at night with his vehicle running drew some unwanted attention to a male. Police stopped to check on him and smelled liquor, but he refused to provide a breath sample. He was given a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. A small amount of cocaine was seized.

•A trailer hitch was stolen from a Highway 95 residence.

•A barbed wire fence on 44th Street was damaged by a vehicle that left paint evidence, but not information about the driver.

•In a court order, a local female serving a jail sentence has been issued a lifetime ban on the possession of firearms.

•Green paint was left on a parked vehicle in a Northwest Boulevard parking lot hit and run.

•A female who had refused to leave a Riverview Road residence vacated on her own when police arrived.

June 17

•A Riondel resident who reported a food poisoning case from a local restaurant was advised to contact a different agency.

•A person who complained about a BB gun being advertised on a local Internet site was informed it is not illegal to sell such an item, or advertise it.

•When police tracked down the driver who was reportedly responsible for a hit and run in a Cook Street parking lot, the elderly female hadn’t realized she had hit another vehicle.

•A Simon Road resident reported that she does not want to have contact with family members.

•Police attended an 11th Avenue North residence and assisted in mediation.

•A mobility scooter reported to be in a ditch on Highway 3A was gone when police arrived.

•Police were unable to determine the reason for a 911 call from a Quinton Road residence.

June 18

•An intoxicated female reported to be at the hospital was gone when police arrived.

•Police attended a Birch Street residence to notify residents about a death in the family.

•A reported harassing letter to a Vancouver Street residence was determined not to be criminal.

•Police conducted a well-being check at a Sixth Avenue South residence, but found no emergency.

•Two pickups were reported to be speeding and making loud noise on 33rd Avenue at Beam Road.

•Police assisted social service personal with a fraud investigation.

•A warning letter was sent to the owner of a vehicle reported to be driving erratically on Dogwood Street.

•Shots were reported on Crown land near Ainsworth Avenue in Riondel.

•A dirt bike was reported to be operating without lights near Centennial Park.

June 19

•Police are investigating a sexual interference case on Connell Road.

•Police were called to a Riley Road residence by a 911 call where they found an extremely intoxicated person who required hospitalization. A smoking marijuana bong was seized.

•A male who fled a 25th Avenue South residence following a domestic assault is being sought by police.

June 20

•A Robson Road resident complained about almost being hit by a vehicle.

•A driver required hospital treatment after his vehicle collided with a deer on Highway 3.

•A ticket to a driver who sideswiped a vehicle on Highway 3 and then drove off has been revoked. The driver was found 2.5 kilometres away, sleeping. He was taken to hospital showing no signs of alcohol consumption, where it was determined he had suffered a minor stroke.

•A 10th Avenue North resident reported receiving harassing text messages about a tenant’s eviction.

•When police found a vehicle in a ditch on Highway 3 two males in attendance claimed to be hitchhikers. The vehicle had a stolen licence plate and police determined one of the males was the driver. The investigation continues.

•A third party report about a sexual assault named only the alleged perpetrator and not the victim. Police are investigating.

•Police were unable to locate a black Camaro reported to be speeding and squealing tires on Lister Road.

•An intoxicated male reported to be walking on Highway 21 with a shirt on his head was found sitting in the middle of the highway and transported to hospital.

June 21

•A person who breached a court order by attending a Simon Road residence was gone when police arrived. Charges are pending.

•When a female reported that a male stole property, the male said he could not identify her as he has stolen from a lot of people.

•A report of about 60 shots fired near Highway 3/95 was reported to conservation officers as the issue is ongoing.

•A driver who collided with a power pole on Settlement Road was located. He said he fell asleep at the wheel and intended to report the incident the following morning. He was issued a ticket.

June 22

•Minor damage to a truck grill was reported on Highway 3 near Yahk after a bag of ice was thrown from an oncoming vehicle.

•A group of travelling sports car drivers was warned after police received a complaint about erratic driving on Highway 3A.

•A warning letter was sent to the owner of a vehicle reported to be passing unsafely and tailgating from Cranbrook to Creston.

•A object fell from a vehicle on Highway 3 east of Creston, damaging the undercarriage of a trailing vehicle.
