More than 60 people gathered at the Creston Valley Chamber of Commerce on June 14 to celebrate the publication of former resident Deryn Collier's Confined Space, a crime fiction novel set in the fictional town of Kootenay Landing.

Columbia Brewery safety manager Tanya Ducharme (below, right) presented Collier with a special memento — her own personalized “lockout” set, an acknowledgment of the safety issue that plays a large role in a murder in Confined Space’s Bugaboo Brewery.

Confined Space is published by Simon and Schuster Canada, and Collier, a Nelson resident since last summer, is now touring and promoting her first novel.
