Erickson is the new home of Cultivating Wellness, Creston Valley’s first medicinal cannabis dispensary. The Advance sits down with Loree LaBoucane co-owner of Cultivating Wellness, to talk about the benefits of medical cannabis.
“We decided to open Cultivating Wellness in Erickson to offer Creston Valley residents an opportunity to purchase medical cannabis products in the Creston Valley without having to travel so far”, LaBoucane states.
“Clients can bring their medical referrals from their physicians”, LaBoucane informs. “Every client completes a membership form and a Code of Conduct agreement before being able to purchase medical cannabis. The Code of Conduct agreement states that the patient will not consume any medical cannabis products onsite and the client must also agree that the products they are purchasing are for medicinal use and not for resale.”
“Education is a big priory for us at Cultivating Wellness”, continues LaBoucane. “Typically clients already know what works for them and what dosage they need. However, not everyone is as well-informed by their physicians as they should be so Cultivating Wellness offers clients private consultations to educate and assist them in choosing the right cannabis product for the right reason. I encourage people to do their own research whenever possible but having a well-informed person with a medical background to guide you is a good first step.”
“Very few of our clients are young adults. Typically the clients that come to the dispensary for alternative medicine are seniors, 60 years and older. We see clients with a vast array of medical issues, such as Chronic Pain, Cancer, Parkinson’s, MS, Anxiety, Neuropathic Pain and Depression just to name a few. We offer these patients an alternative to some of the harsher more addictive medications that have been offered to them and hope for a greater sense of “Well being” even if life is less than perfect”
“We want the Creston Valley to know we provide a safe, discreet location to purchase medical cannabis products. We do not sell to minors, and we review every medical referral before a client is given a membership. Our dispensary does not sell cannabis products for recreational use. We would be happy to answer any questions or concerns that community members may have via email. We want to be as transparent with the community and the local RCMP as possible. Our goal is to have a positive impact on the community and provide a healthier, more holistic alternative for Creston residents suffering from Chronic Pain and illness.
Cultivating Wellness is located at 2726 HW3 Erickson. Hours of operation are 10 am-6 pm Tuesday-Saturday.
