The Creston RCMP station is located on 16th Avenue South.

A 57-year-old Creston woman was killed in a two-vehicle in Yahk yesterday afternoon just before 1 p.m. Ambulance, Creston RCMP and highways personnel attended the scene, as did a coroner. An RCMP crash scene analyst was flown in from Vernon.

“The collision occurred when an older model Nissan Sentra, which was driven by the deceased and travelling southbound, crossed the double solid centre line into the path of a northbound, newer model Ford four-door station wagon,” said a press release by Sgt. Don Erichsen of East Kootenay Traffic Services. “The collision occurred fully in the northbound lane of travel.”

The female driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene, while her male travelling companion was taken to hospital by air ambulance with undisclosed injuries. The four travellers in the northbound Ford were uninjured.

The name of the deceased has not been released, and the investigation continues.
