Creston RCMP responded to 92 calls for service from April 30-May 6, Staff Sgt. Gollan said.
April 30
•Police were unable to locate two males who were reported to have illegally entered Canada at the Rykerts border crossing. They were also unable to locate a vehicle that might have crossed into Canada near Wellspring Road.
•A speeding male driver stopped on Mallory Road was found to be without insurance. He was ticketed for both infractions.
•A local resident reported getting an email from a person claiming to be a family member, requesting money for an emergency. It was determined that the family member’s email account had been hacked and he has been notified.
•A small amount of marijuana was seized when a vehicle was stopped by a patrol car on Highway 3A. This is described as “a no case seizure” when the amount is too small for Crown counsel to pursue criminal charges.
May 1
•Police conducted a well-being check on an Aldrich Road female and determined she was OK.
•An Ash Street resident turned in some old ammunition to be destroyed.
•A well-being check on a Northwest Boulevard male found that he was in the hospital.
•It was reported that 60-80 litres of jet fuel had spilled out onto the ground in the Iron Range after someone shot the cans.
•Two front-load tractors were stolen from a Lister Road property.
•Minor damage resulted to a parked vehicle in a hit and run on Canyon Street.
•Police assisted the Nelson International Border Enforcement Team in arresting a person suspected of helping people cross the border illegally.
•A male who was breaching no contact conditions on Northwest Boulevard was taken to another location.
•An intoxicated female who was walking without shoes on Northwest Boulevard was arrested for her safety and held overnight in police cells.
May 2
•A female driver sustained minor injuries when her car went off the road near Destiny Bay on Highway 3A. She had to be cut out of the vehicle by a Road Rescue crew.
•A Meadow Wood Road resident complained about harassing calls from Alberta.
•A tractor C-frame was stolen from an Erickson Road property.
•Creston police assisted Nakusp RCMP in the investigation of a sexual assault case.
•A male who appeared to be very confused when he stopped at the Rykerts border crossing was taken to hospital. Gollan credited volunteers from PAWS, who arrived to care for the man’s dog. “They were very good about it,” he said.
•An intoxicated male was arrested in Centennial Park and held overnight in police cells.
•Police attended an Erickson Road residence to keep the peace during a meeting between a landlord and tenant.
•An Elm Street resident reported a theft of mail.
