Creston RCMP received 86 calls for service from Aug. 19-25, Staff Sgt. Bob Gollan reported on Monday.

August 19

•Three outdoor marijuana grow-ops — containing 200, 80 and 35 plants — were destroyed on Highway 3A near Crawford Bay. The investigation is ongoing to see if a male and two females believed to be involved are the actual growers.

•A children’s bike found on Ninth Avenue South can be claimed at the RCMP detachment.

•A stereo, passport and wallet were taken from a vehicle on Cedar Street. A wallet was also stolen from another Cedar Street vehicle around the same time.

•A driver reported having a single-vehicle collision near Balfour the previous day.

•An iPhone found on Canyon Street will be returned to the owner by a relative.

•No cellphone information was available after a 911 call from Whimster Road.

•RCMP assisted ambulance personnel with a subject going through diabetic shock on 20th Avenue South.

•A dated complaint about ongoing parties in the area of 40th Avenue was received, but nothing could be done as there is no noise bylaw in the regional district.

•Minor damage was caused when a vehicle backing out of a parking spot hit another on Canyon Street.

August 20

•The occupants of a home on Cook Street didn't know what police were talking about when they investigated a complaint of yelling and screaming.

•Police visited a home on 16th Avenue South, assisting Nakusp RCMP in regard to a possible missing person.

•When looking at the contents of a cellphone found on Erickson Road in an attempt to find the owner, Creston RCMP found evidence of emails regarding the sale of marijuana.

•A letter will be sent to the motor vehicle branch regarding an elderly driver on Erickson Street, who backed into the road, blocking traffic, and then had difficulty putting the vehicle back in drive.

•A summons was served on Fifth Avenue North on behalf of the Vermillion, Alta., RCMP.

•The owner of a vehicle that reportedly almost struck pedestrians in a 16th Avenue North crosswalk was identified and interviewed.

•Police received a complaint of an argument with car wash owners on 20th Avenue South, after a female customer got grease on her shirt at the car wash.

•A male thought he discovered his stolen canoe on Highway 3, but RCMP found it to be a similar model.

•A female on Highway 3 reported that her laptop was stolen out of her unlocked vehicle, but she called back short time later to say she found it in her house.

•A driver on Cedar Street caused $1,000 to another vehicle after backing into it while attempting to get out of the way of a truck blocking the road.

•The person who was camping on the former veterinarian clinic property on Canyon Street had permission from the owners.

August 21

•A Wynndel Road resident reported an overdue daughter, who showed up a few minutes after the call.

•A break-in at the Wildlife Interpretation Centre building and surrounding sheds on West Creston Road caused about $500 damage. Later, suspects believed to be the same culprits attempted to enter a water shed at the provincial park in Yahk, and broke into a Yahk business, where they stole money, tools — including a Husqvarna chainsaw — and food.

•RCMP attended a Railway Boulevard business with the owner, finding everything secure after an alarm went off.

•A 10th Avenue North male turned in knives he wanted to be destroyed.

•A Wenger Road resident received threats over the phone from a relative in Alberta.

•RCMP responded to a report of a 45-year-old male and his father arguing and fighting on Aldridge Road.

•A motorcycle with Idaho plates was reportedly driving in an erratic manner on Highway 3A.

August 22

•RCMP could not locate a male in yellow shorts, a dark shirt and ball cap standing outside an Eighth Avenue South window.

•When a complaint was received about a Second Avenue North resident crossing a neighbour’s property, RCMP suggested discussing the issue with the neighbour and putting up no trespassing signs.

•Three people sleeping in Millennium Park “wanted to discuss the finer points of the law” with RCMP, Gollan said. They were told they could have that discussion in police cells, at which time they decided to leave.

•RCMP visited an Anderson Road residence during a civil dispute between family members and an estate company.

•An egg was thrown at a house window on Regina Street.

•Two bags, one containing a passport, were found on Cedar Street. The owner told police the bags had been stolen from their vehicle.

•RCMP were asked to locate a Creston Road subject not seen for few days.

•A vehicle reportedly almost struck a person in a Canyon Street crosswalk.

•No pot was located when RCMP responded to a call about a group smoking pot outside the library, but the group decided it was a good idea to move on.

•The registered owner of white van on Canyon-Lister Road, in which a female driver was talking on a cellphone, will receive a warning letter.

•A dog was reportedly left in a vehicle parked in a Cook Street parking lot, but the owner drove away before police arrived.

•Two boys who failed to return to their Erickson Street home were later located swimming in Goat River.

•The owner of a Samsung cellphone found on 11th Avenue North was located.

•RCMP took possession of drugs seized by Rykerts border guards.

•Police are still looking into charging one subject involved in a complaint of an assault over outstanding debts.

•A male reportedly pushed down a young boy on Canyon Street, but the only description given was that the male had a low voice.

•After Seventh Avenue North parents found drugs in their child’s backpack, police visited to talk to the youth about drugs.

•There is no regional district noise bylaw to prevent three dogs from barking on Bossio Road.

•After she asked three young people near the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Cook Street for $20, an intoxicated female known to police punched one of the youths. As they walked away, she began squatting and urinating, after which police arrested her for intoxication.

August 23

•Both tow truck drivers complained to RCMP after each flipped the other the bird as they passed on Canyon Street.

•Extra patrols were made after speeders were reportedly driving up and down Canyon-Lister Road.

•A Cavell Street senior, one of several targeted, was advised not to send any more money to India, after a telemarketer called back demanding more money.

•After a black Ford pickup passed a truck and trailer on Highway 3A, its driver gave the other the finger, then imitated a gun. The licence number was obtained and RCMP will follow up.

•A motorcycle owner visited the detachment to report a lost licence plate.

•A residential alarm on Ash Street was confirmed to be false.

•RCMP were highly visible, and noted no infractions after quads were reportedly seen on Canyon-Lister Road heading to the gravel pit for a large party.

August 24

•When RCMP returned a wallet found on Cook Street to its owner, Nathan Jessop, he was found to be carrying a knife, in violation of his probation conditions. He was slated to appear in court on Tuesday.

•Creston RCMP assisted ambulance personnel by following them to Cranbrook as they transported an intoxicated and unruly patient who had facial injuries caused by a skateboarding accident. As a result, they were unable to attend a report of loud music on Hillside Street.

•A motorcycle with Alberta plates passed a female driver, then slammed on its brakes on Highway 3A.

August 25

•Police attended a call on 16th Avenue North, where a male and female were arguing because she wanted to go swimming, but he didn’t. She was later found in an argument on Elm Street with a different male, who was arrested for causing a disturbance, and she was warned that she could be arrested for intoxication if the arguing continued.

•A female suffering from medical issues on Topaz Creek Forest Service Road was referred to health services,

•A white Honda hatchback driven by a novice driver was going slowly and swerving on Canyon Street.

•The Nelson Search and Rescue team was called to help boaters caught on Kootenay Lake during a late evening storm.
