Creston RCMP responded to a total of 70 calls from May 23-29, said Staff Sgt. Darryl Hammond.

May 23

•A wallet was reported lost on Northwest Boulevard.

•A vehicle stopped on Helen Street for speeding was found to be uninsured.

•Police received a report about minors drinking on Canyon Street but they were not located.

•A 70-year-old male died suddenly in his Boswell residence of apparent natural causes.

•A domestic disturbance reported on First Avenue did not involve assault.

•An intoxicated male who refused to leave a West Creston residence was arrested and held overnight in police cells.

•A male reported to be intoxicated and lying down near Ninth Avenue South was gone when police arrived.

May 24

•A male was reported to be knocking on doors on Sixth Avenue South, and then simply walking away when asked what he wanted.

•Police received a report of a hotel guest smoking marijuana in a Highway 3 hotel room.

•A well-being check on a male in the 4000 block of Highway 3 indicated he was OK.

•Drugs found by a tenant on Cook Street have been turned over to police for destruction.

•Police worked to resolve a dispute that arose from the placement of slanderous and rude comments on social media sites.

•A report of inappropriate comments on social media from 11th Avenue North has resulted in the sender’s access to the Internet restricted by parents.

•Charges have been recommended after a male was found to be in unlawful possession of a rifle in the 4000 block of Highway 3A.

•A driver sustained cuts from broken glass after colliding with a deer on Highway 3 near Kootenay Pass.

•An old laptop computer may have been stolen in a break and entry to a 25th Avenue South residence on May 14.

•Another incident of mischief to coin-operated washing machines was reported to have happened on May 14.

•A vehicle stopped on Erickson Road at 32nd Avenue was found to be in control of a male who had no driver’s licence or insurance.

•A well-being check on children in a Centre Road residence revealed they were OK.

•When police responded to a 911 call reporting an altercation on Elm Street people in the house denied anything had happened.

May 25

•When police followed up on a complaint about bald tires on a truck, the owner reported that the tires are checked weekly by Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance personnel at the weigh station near Yahk.

•A minor collision occurred on Northwest Boulevard when a vehicle backed into another.

•Police mediated a dispute on Crown Creek Road after threats were made about hunting on private property.

•A patrolling officer stopped a male on Canyon Street at 16th Avenue who was carrying a baton and an open bottle of beer. Nearby was an injured male. Both were intoxicated and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment. The suspect faces assault charges.

•A 911 call from Elm Street complained about an intoxicated male who refused to leave the residence. He was gone when police arrived.

•An intoxicated male on Centre Road was arrested and held in cells overnight.

•In yet another call from Elm Street, a complaint was made that a male on the porch was unable to get up, and was blocking the doorway.

•Police were unable to identify the source of a voice reportedly heard in the bushes near Stace Road.

•A 911 call reported a person was doing crimes but provided no other details.

May 26

•A male reported to be acting suspiciously was determined by police to be a Fort McMurray, Alta., resident who was staying at a friend’s place and smoking near his own truck.

•A well-being check at a Goat River Road residence revealed no problems.

•A 911 call from Elm Street was made to complain about a neighbour’s activities.

•A suspicious vehicle at Lister Park was gone when police arrived.

May 27

•A vehicle reported to be in the ditch on Highway 3 near Meadow Creek was not located.

•A semi driver reported to have passed another semi near Kootenay Pass on a double solid line denied the pass was made on a double solid line.

•A company that owns vehicles reported to be speeding on Goat River Road has warned its drivers.

•Police served a summons on behalf of Cranbrook RCMP.

•A forest green canoe was stolen from Duck Lake, where it was chained up, between May 10 and 26.

•A vehicle attempting to pass another 15 kilometres east of Creston on Highway 3 ended up in the ditch.

•A complaint about an unwanted roommate came from 18th Avenue South.

May 28

•Police were able to stop an intoxicated male who intended to drive on 15th Avenue North.

•When partiers in Erickson refused to turn down loud music because there is no Regional District of Central Kootenay noise bylaw in the area, they were informed that noise can also be a Criminal Code offence.

•A culprit has been tentatively identified after a hit and run in a Cook Street parking lot.

•Police are investigating a report of a stunting yellow Camaro on Hillside Street at 16th Avenue North.

•When police located a driver reported to have been speeding and swerving on Highway 21 he was intoxicated, but not driving at the time he was found.

•Youths reported to be carrying a tree on Erickson Road were not located.

May 29

•A report of a possible domestic dispute came from Northwest Boulevard near Valleyview Drive.
