Creston RCMP calls include suspicious and stolen vehicles

The Creston RCMP detachment is located on 16th Avenue South.

Creston RCMP responded to 63 calls from May 19-25, Staff Sgt. Bob Gollan said on Monday.

May 19

•A report about a fawn left on its own after its mother was killed in a car collision on Hahn Road was referred to conservation officers.

•When police investigated a reported break and entry to a Regina Street residence, they determined the suspect had permission of the homeowner to enter.

•An 81-year-old female died suddenly in her Vancouver Street residence. The death appears to be of natural causes.

May 20

•Police received a report that a pellet gun was used to break a patio door window and screen.

•Illegal liquor was seized at the Kootenanny music festival on Highway 3A.

•A 22nd Avenue North resident complained that a suspicious vehicle was driving past the house in a possible continuation of harassment from earlier in the year.

•A breach of a no-contact order was reported from Crawford Bay.

•An intoxicated, unwelcome male guest was reported at an Elm Street residence.

May 21

•A wallet and house keys were stolen from a 40th Avenue residence. The thief returned later and stole firearms from the house.

•When police investigated a report of a suspicious person on 10th Avenue South they could find no sign of any crimes.

•A person who was storing a vehicle was driving on Highway 3 when he saw the vehicle being driven by a thief in a black hoodie. The thief stopped the car and ran off.

•A dark-coloured van was damaged in a hit and run in an 11th Avenue North parking lot.

•A vehicle was reported abandoned on Post Office Road in Crawford Bay.

•Patrolling police noted a vehicle in a Cook Street parking lot that had an expired licence plate. The surprised owner agreed to get a new tag before moving the vehicle.

•Police were unable to locate a black Ford Escort reported to be driving erratically on Highway 3.

•An iPod was stolen from a vehicle on Ninth Avenue South.

•A stolen Alberta licence plate was recovered in Kingsgate.

May 22

•Apple electronic products were stolen from a Canyon Street business by a thief who smashed a glass door to gain entry.

•When police located drivers reported to be racing on Payne Street, a female said she had passed the other driver to show off her new loud muffler system, Both drivers were warned.

•A 911 call from a Lakeview-Arrow Creek Road residence was attributed to misdialing the phone.

•Police spoke to a driver who was reported to have left a dog in the car while at a café on Leadville Road.

•Police received a complaint that a hotel refused to accommodate a person with a guide dog.

•Prince Charles Secondary School administration is dealing internally with a parent who accosted a school employee.

•Charges are being recommended against a male who breached his no contact order on Canyon Street.

•Police were called to intervene in a father-son argument.

•A female who reported being assaulted in a Crawford Bay pub in a dispute over money did not want charges laid.

May 23

•A 24th Avenue resident who continues to make frivolous 911 calls faces possible charges for misuse of the emergency service.

•Police found a quantity of marijuana in a truck reported as suspicious on Speers Road.  Even more suspicious was the timing of a call from the truck’s owner, reporting that it had been stolen.

•No charges resulted when police attended a Kitchener Airport Road residence where a husband and wife were arguing.

•Police mediated a dispute in which one tenant in a Highway 3A residence turned off the power in a response to another playing loud music.

•An alarm at the Wildlife Interpretation Centre was found to have been triggered by a bird who got into the building in an apparent case of fly and enter.

May 24

•A complaint was received about harassing email messages to an Evans Road resident.

•A verbal warning was issued to an erratic driver on Canyon Street.

•A motorcyclist who went off Hall Road in Sanca was transported to hospital.

•A prohibited driver was found in control of a vehicle and issued a ticket on Highway 3.

•Police were unable to find a source of shots fired on Highway 3.

May 25

•When police arrived at 18th Avenue South in response to a report of males fighting, one had left and the remaining people did not cooperate with information.

•Patrolling police noted an intoxicated female staggering on Cedar Street and arrested her for being drunk in public. She was held in cells until sober.

•A 59-year-old man died suddenly at his Placsko Road residence, apparently of natural causes.

•A female reported to be behaving erratically on 16th Avenue South was found to be intoxicated. She was arrested and held in cells until sober.

•A resident of Railway Avenue reported that a male who was renting a trailer was trying to sell it on the Internet.

•An intoxicated female was arrested near Millennium Park and held in cells until sober.

•An Alberta-licensed Corvette reported to be passing unsafely on Highway 3 was not located.
