Creston RCMP responded to 72 calls between April 26th and May 2, Staff Sgt. Gord Stewart said on Tuesday.

April 26

•Police arrested an 18-year-old male in the 1500 block of Cedar Street on a shoplifting warrant at the request of Kelowna RCMP.

•A complaint from the 300 block of Kootenay River Road said a female driving a Suburban at high speeds is an ongoing problem on the road.

•A report that a Crawford Bay school student was in possession of a controlled substance is being investigated.

•Police seized a small amount of marijuana while checking a male on an unrelated offense in the 3400 block of Highway 21. No charges were laid.

April 27

•No witnesses or suspects have been identified after a tire was slashed in the 1100 block of Erickson Road.

•Two tires were flattened in a vehicle parked at the College of the Rockies.

•When Creston RCMP responded to a call about the possible drug overdose of a 25-year-old male in the 1300 block of Channel Road, the male was unco-operative. He was apprehended under the Mental Health Act, then arrested after he assaulted a police officer. The Cranbrook hospital refused to admit him, so he was held in Creston cells, where it was determined he was in breach of court conditions. He was eventually released pending a future court appearance.

•Police are investigating allegations that a male shoplifted cat food from a store in the 1000 block of Northwest Boulevard.

April 28

•A 2007 Buick sustained extensive damage when it swerved to avoid a deer, went off Highway 3 near Kitchener and struck a rock face. The driver attributed slushy road conditions.

•A new window in construction of an addition at Gleaners was stolen overnight.

•A female in the 900 block of River Avenue reported that a male in a green van offered to clean her carpets for free.

•The theft of potting soil and a garden cart was reported by a business in the 2900 block of Highway 3.

•A male in the 1500 block of Northwest Boulevard reported the possible theft of coins of an unknown number and undetermined value.

April 29

•Police obtained a DNA sample from a local resident on behalf of Squamish RCMP.

•A 40-year-old male was arrested for assault following a domestic dispute in the 6100 block of Kitchener Road. He was later released with a court date pending.

April 30

•When police patrols stopped a 2004 Subaru Imprezza in the 2000 block of Ash Street the 36-year-old male driver he failed two roadside screening tests for alcohol. He was prohibited from driving for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

•Police patrols located a youth in breach of two probation orders, one for breaking curfew and another for possessing a knife. He was arrested and held in custody until a court appearance, in which he was sentenced to house arrest.

•Police are investigating a report of the theft of a Husqvarna chainsaw from a shed in the 800 block of Scott Street.

•When police traced a call involving death threats to Mendocino, Calif., they learned that a Google program allows callers to prevent their actual location from being determined. All calls appear to be coming from Mendocino, California police reported.

May 1

•A complaint from the 3700 block of Eighth Street reported that a neighbour’s stallion was making uninvited visits to female horses. Good fences make good neighbours, the caller was told. They also really cut down on a stallion’s social life.

•A dog in the 500 block of 40th Street was shot when it was caught killing chickens on a neighbouring property. The shooting was a legal response to the problem, Stewart said.

May 2

•An 84-year-old male in the 400 block of Sixth Avenue North died suddenly in his home, apparently from natural causes.

•Police received a report that a female is living on a Kidd Creek Forest Service Road property without permission.
