Creston RCMP responded to 50 calls for service from Jan. 23-29, Staff Sgt. Bob Gollan said on Jan. 30.

January 28

•When police arrived to check out a reported fight at an Erickson Road residence, they found the residents were watching a Rocky movie on television, with the volume turned up.

•Police checked a vehicle near Centennial Park and noted the aroma of marijuana. A small quantity was seized for destruction but no charges were laid.

•Police were called to a 23rd Avenue South residence after a male, known to the residents, attempted to enter the building. The investigation continues.

•An unidentified male wearing a blue toque with white pompom was reported as checking for unlocked vehicles in a Vancouver Street parking lot. Police ask anyone noticing suspicious activity to report it immediately as there have been many thefts from unlocked vehicles recently.

•A vehicle flipped over when the driver swerved as he tried to avoid an oncoming vehicle in the wrong lane on an icy Highway 3 in Yahk. No injuries resulted.

•When police arrived at a local pub after receiving a report that an intoxicated male was trying to enter the building, they found the suspect had two outstanding arrest warrants and was in breach of court order not to consume alcohol. He was arrested on those charges, as well as for being drunk in public.

•Police recommended to two people who accused each other of sending annoying text messages that each should block the other’s phone number.

•A vehicle went into the ditch off Cory Road at Highway 3A. No injuries were reported.
