Creston RCMP responded to 50 calls for service from Jan. 23-29, Staff Sgt. Bob Gollan said on Jan. 30.

January 24

•Police were called to the site of a sudden death of a 65-year-old male at a Riverview Road residence. The death is not considered to be suspicious in nature.

•Unwanted firearms from a Hearst Street residence were turned in for destruction.

•Police received a complaint about an aggressive dog on 40th Street.

•No injuries were reported in a single motor vehicle accident on Highway 3, east of Creston. The vehicle sustained about $3,000 in damage.

•A report about “aggressive discipline” by a parent on 10th Avenue South has been referred to the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

•When police responded to a 911 call from a Stace Road residence, the telephone owner reported having no idea how the call was made.

•Police co-operated with police in Ethelbert, Man., on an assault file. (We believe this might be the first time the name Ethelbert — 2006 population: 312 — has ever appeared in the Advance.

•An avalanche was reported about three kilometres west of the chain-up area on Highway 3 near Kootenay Pass.
