Creston and District Public Library members who are unhappy with the termination of chief librarian Ann Day won’t get to confront library board members until September.

Board chair Joan Jeary said last week the annual general meeting has been set for Sept. 18, about 18 months after the 2011 AGM.

“In the interests of continuity and completing the process of finding new leadership, the board decided to hold the AGM Sept. 18 (7 p.m.), which will provide time to hire a new chief librarian and support him/her in their role for a short time before a new board is formed,” she said by email.

Day was terminated without cause in April and the chief librarian position is now being advertised.

Jeary also said that lengthy union contract negotiations were not completed until March 30, further contributing to the board’s decision to delay holding an AGM.
