In what has become a spring tradition, the Creston Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Home and Garden Show returns next week.
On April 20 and 21, about 80 vendors will fill the John Bucyk Arena, offering everything from garden equipment to home décor to insurance to information on local non-profit societies.
“It’s a pretty wide range of exhibits,” said chamber executive director Jim Jacobsen.
The show will be larger than it’s been in a few years; upgrades to the Creston and District Community Complex forced the show into the curling rink and reduced the available number of booths.
“We’re back to where we started in the arena with a full-sized show. It’s going to make the show look and feel bigger and brighter.”
The return to the arena allows for larger exhibits, including a landscaping feature by Beltane Nursery. Vendors from the Creston Valley Farmers’ Market will offer mini-workshops and product demonstrations. And to promote the local arts community, Wynndel artist Sandy Kunze is organizing an artistic element to the show.
“We’re actually going to have working artists on-site with a home and garden theme,” said Jacobsen.
Outside will be food vendors, including Betty Martin, who will be raising funds for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
The show is sponsored by Columbia Basin Trust, and, as usual, will offer visitors door prizes and a chance to win the grand prize, a garden set worth over $1,500 donated by Home Hardware Building Centre.
The Home and Garden Show runs from 2-9 p.m. April 20 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 21. Admission is $3, or two admissions for $5. For more information or to reserve a booth, contact the Creston Valley Chamber of Commerce at 250-428-4342.
