The playground at Crawford Bay park could get a new lease on life if the community wins the BCAA Play Here contest.

Crawford Bay Community Park is one of five finalists in BCAA’s Play Here contest, which promises the winner up to $100,000 for a playground revitalization project.

The current playground “looks like time forgot all about it,” according to a statement outlining its deficiencies. It is “outdated and in bad repair, making it an underused resource, rarely frequented by families.”

However, the community is “committed to re-imagining the space and not only tearing down the unsafe and old equipment, but replacing them with an innovative and beautiful design based on the concept of Natural Playgrounds that borrow ideas from the natural world.”

The other finalists are playgrounds in Lillooet, Vancouver Island, and two in Vancouver.

You can vote online once per day at bcaaplayhere.com until June 29. The winner will be announced July 11.
